Position Title:                  Grounds

Type of Position:             Full Time (hourly)

Reports To:                      Clark Sports Center Dir. Building and Grounds

Overview

Under the direction of the Dir. Building and Grounds, and the Grounds Supervisor, maintains all grounds and vehicle maintenance of the Sports Center facility.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum four years of related employment and experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to operate required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Able to deal with a variety of situations requiring independent action, judgement, and initiative.
  • Must be receptive to change, adapting to changing circumstances, and making suggestions for improvements.
  • Must be willing to adapt to schedule and hour change during winter to accommodate snowstorms.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain grounds including mowing, trimming, weeding, soil seed, ground repairs, maintaining parking lots and drives, snow removal, plowing, and salting.
  • Equipment (tractors, lawn mowers, etc.) supports the grounds supervisor in maintenance of vehicles and equipment including oil changes, greasing, and minor general repairs.
  • Assist grounds supervisor with vans and trailers maintenance includes changing snow tires and preparing equipment for seasonal changes.
  • Willingness and ability to perform other duties as assigned.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; talk and hear; reach with hands and arms in all directions, use hands to, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently required to sit; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.
  • Able to meet specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally work at heights of up to 35ft on a ladder or in a man lift.

  • Working indoors and outdoors in an environment that may be characterized by excessive exposure to a wide range of environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes and changes in temperature and weather which may be outside the human comfort level.

Rate of Pay: $16.82/hour
